Garden of Dreams aka Garden of the six seasons is Eden inside the heavenly blossom of neo classical Kaiser Mahal that holds the legacy of Rana Regime in Nepal.
It was through the vision of late Field Marshal Kaiser Sumsher Rana(1892-1964) that the majestic edifice with tranquil garden materialized amid the hustle bustle of the sedulous Tourist Destination of Thamel, the vibrant sphere where almost everything entailed by tourists- be it eateries or trekking apparels or money exchange, in fact everything conceivable by travelers is just a finger tip away.
Garden of Dreams, heavily inspired by the Edwardian Style took shape in the year 1920 under the design and supervision of Kishore Narsingh, a contemporary pre- eminent Nepali Architect.
Total six sentry boxes stand tall inside the premise, each honoring the individual season. Fountains, pergolas, urns,bird houses along with shrubs and trees aids in enthralling you with the out of the world experience.
After the 7 yr long tiring renovation efforts that initiated in the year 2000 and continued till 2007, with the assistance of Austrian Development Aid, Garden of Dreams has rise from its ashes with a new look, more enticing and with more features. Garden of Dreams stretch itself to the length of 6895 sq.m. and today incorporates 3 pavilions, a hall, ponds along with Natural Library that garners books dedicated to gardening, architecture and literature.
The Serene Garden is more than happy to greet you in its opening hours which lasts 9 am till 10 pm. The topographical structure and the location in which it exists make Garden of Dreams an ideal place for conducting diplomatic programs and business dealings. Entry to the Garden requires NRs 160 for adults and NRs 40 if you are child.
